Great location near Borges Chiado during 4 days in July 2018, cafes and eateries were right next to the hotel. Also, Fernando Pessoa was nearby. We got standard room, which was updated.

We went in the middle of August. Super central. The place is unbeatable. A lot of atmosphere on the street but the hotel is quiet. We coincided with a demonstration for the Amazon with music and hundreds of people in the nearby square and from the room, which faced the main street, was barely heard. It has a small gym very flirtatious. It is quite clean.
Being in that situation, there is no parking. If you come by train the station is next door. If you arrive by plane with the taxi there is no problem. But by car take note. Park far away from the center and take a taxi. The parking cost me 50 euros a day. It seems that there is another parking, even closer (the one I took was two streets away) but although it is cheaper it is still very expensive. There are some rooms with humidity but the air freshener is so powerful that you only find out if you see the stain on the ceiling

Location
First of all, I resolve never to return to any hotel that charges for the internet. In this case the charges were even more ridiculous than usual. The website lied by saying that wi-fi was free in the public areas. It was not. The hotel room was disgusting filthy, there were stains on the bed, walls even the light shade. Some stains on the wall looked like blood The typical type of guest is a backpacker or young person out partying so expect a lot of noise and shouting from rooms and corridors even in the middle of the night. Finally the breakfast. To get the right impression think about the Soviet Union in the 1960s - stupid room for breakfast badly organised with people bumping into each other. Also the worst coffee ever made from a machine. Only the great location saves this place from closure.

The location
Breakfast is a joke. The staff seem to have forgotten we pay. Imposible to sleep in the rooms at the front.

Things I wish I knew before I tried it
The location is undeniably fantastic, surrounded by vibrant street life and close to key attractions. Noise can be an issue, especially from nearby performers. The breakfast lacked variety as well. Opting to explore local cafes might be a better choice. The staff's warmth could use improvement, but the comfy rooms was great.

The location is very good close to the main area if you like to be in the tourist area with shops and restaurants. The Metro is only steps away.
The breakfast was very limited

The hotel manager, Andre I believe his name is, was in a word terrific!! My wife's pocketbook had been pilfered upon our arrival in Lisbon. Taken were our passports, various charge cards, U.S. currency, blank checks, etc. My wife's passport was recovered by the Lisboa police while we were still in process of reporting the theft. I had to have mine replaced early the next morning at the U.S. Consulate. Throughout, Andre was courteous and most helpful, which was a blessing during our moment of need. Hotel Borges is to be complimented for having selected Andre to hold such an important position in your hotel. Thank you, Clarke and Joanne Bittner, Dallas, pa, usa
I am a big man - 6'2" tall, 235 lbs. I found the room a bit small for a man of my size. However, everything was clean, tidy, and sufficiently comfortable.

We loved the great location of this hotel! It offered fine views of the piazza, and being so close to shops, restaurants, and transportation. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and perfect for my large family, including our dog.
In my wife's opinion, the evening noise from the square delayed our children's bedtime. A little soundproofing on the windows would greatly improve the experience for families.

The only good thing about Hotel Borges is location if one is looking for a lively very touristic area. The price is far beyond what the hotel really offers: breakfast is a joke, (payed) internet connection does not work inside the rooms, shower and toilete are very basic, staff try to be helpful but they are really not well trained for the job...

Prime location for exploration, unique art and decor, cozy common areas
The air conditioning was quite noisy and inconsistent!!! The drainage in bathrooms needs urgent attention, as it was ineffective!!! The lack of electrical outlets in rooms was frustrating for charging devices, especially in today's tech-driven world!!!
